2007 CREATION – REPERTOIRE

AKX

CONTEMPORARY TANGO

«AKX, a whirling, swirling, repetitive dance, gives us a taste of trance and spirals, with a tango flavour.»
This duo was devised from dancers walking, circling, improvising and dancing Argentine tango.

AKX grew from the little accidents that come from repetition. These « slip-ups » are often ideal opportunituties for creating new choreographies. The simplicity of walking, or here, « circling », as the dancers walk round and round in a circle, create an infinite number of movements and gestures which naturally and endlessly transform into new movements and gestures.
By fully accepting the proposition of this repetitive walking in a circle, the improvisation process benefits from surprising developments and surges in the choreography which are perpetually renewed. This opens up dramatic « spaces » which are enhanced by the tension created between the two bodies and implicitly characterised by the Argentine tango.
